PSG Edges Olympique de Marseille in a Shootout to Secure Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the prestigious trophy on fourteen separate times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be sailing towards a straightforward triumph in the match featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired twice in the closing moments to seize a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos grabbed a crucial equaliser in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen seasons.
